Tips for prospective PhD candidates:

  1. We encourage you to go through our websites (and read some papers) to see if our research interests and goals align with yours. We have several research sub-directions, and our students can have an experimental or computational focus or both, depending on individual interests.
  2. All applications need to meet the admission requirements of our CEE department and graduate school (check here).
  3. If our research is of significant interest to you, please submit a formal application to our CEE Ph.D. program and make sure you indicate your interest in working with Dr. Gong during the online application.
  4. All applications will be thoroughly evaluated to select the top candidates for interviews. In general, alignment of goals and interests, evidence of research experience (e.g., publications in reputable journals), strong letters of recommendation, reputable institutions, a high GPA, and high GRE and TOEFL/IELTS scores will improve your chances.
